    2016 - COLLINS New Work

    New Work

    Exhibition dates: 27 APR - 15 MAY 2016
    Opening: Thursday 28th Apr, 6 - 8pm

The mangroves of the Hawkesbury River and the bushland of south west Sydney are two distinct environments where I've been working over the past year. They are the inspiration and the starting points for most of the work in this exhibition.

The tide moves in and out among the mangrove, covering and exposing the vast mudflats dotted with aerial roots. At high tide the reflected lines of trunks and branches play on the water surface.

Tall grey gums and blackbutts set up a rhythm through the bush and frame chaotic patches of leaf and branch. Filtered light moves over a shrub, spotlights a twig.

Linking both landscapes is the fabric of line, trunks and branches that inter-weave to form dense screens.

As the sun traverses the sky a moving drama of light and dark unfolds.
