Michael Braden

Born in Sydney's eastern suburbs, Michael Braden began his career as a signwriter in 1978, working in the tropics at Darwin and in far-north Queensland. After returning to Sydney to work as a pictorialist for Australia's oldest and most respected sign company Althouse & Geiger he was invited to join the ‘Signwriters Guild of Australia'. It was there that he met fellow guild member Keith Dewell who encouraged him to participate in life drawing classes at the renowned ‘Julian Ashton Art School' in Sydney.

Whilst painting a mural in the main street of Meekatharra, in the West Australian outback he met the landscape artist Tam Ambrose. Ambrose emboldened Michael to pursue fine art with a more serious-eye and with particular emphasis placed on his plein air painting.

"To me, painting is a journey I pursue seriously and enjoy immensely without thought of destination or level that needs reaching. Painting can be a most challenging and yet rewarding pursuit in which one is always learning."
