Gwen Robson is an Australian born artist. Her childhood was spent in the former gold rush town of Charters Towers in north Queensland. After graduating high school in Brisbane, she persued studies in fine art and graphic design. Since then, she has continued to learn new skills with practicing artists from around Australia.
Gwen brings to her art, the same curiosity she has for life in general. Her early working life was spent traversing Australia and overseas, selling merchandise for touring international musicians. Whilst travelling extensively, she could observe, explore and experience new people and places.
The time between tours was spent with dirty hands and a paintbrush, renovating and building houses, satisfying her interests in interiors, gardening and architecture.
Unable to settle for a singular muse, her subjects are drawn from her own life experiences and the environments she finds herself in. Blending figuration and abstraction, Gwen explores the interaction of spaces, shape and form within her compositions. Her line drawings and sculptures are imbued with an intuitve sensing, revealing an emotional sensitivity about her subjects.
